Montfair Resort Farm is located in the rolling hills of Historic Albemarle County, 15 miles N.W of Charlottesville, Virginia at the foot of Pasture Fence Mountain.For a quiet vacation in the mountains, Montfair is the ideal location to launch your expedition to explore the Charlottesville, Albemarle & the Central Virginia areas.Welcome! We hope you enjoy your stay in this beautiful and unique area.We are approximately 40 min. from Monticello and Ashlawn. Both are well worth the drive! We are 30 min. from Charlottesville and the University of Virginia with its great campus, art museum, galleries, restaurants, historic downtown mall and Ivy Creek Natural Area. We are also 30 min. from Waynesboro, The Va. Wildlife Center & the Frontier Culture Museum. 45 min. away, Rodes Farm Stable at Wintergreen Resort offers horseback riding lessons & trail rides. Spend time getting to know our neighborhood. Crozet is just 15 min. away with the Famous Crozet Pizza (noted in the National Geographic Guide Book, make reservations), 2 pick your own Orchards, public pool, and natural food store. White Hall Vineyard is just a half a mile up the road from us and there are many closeby Vineyards to visit. The best Organic eggs from Mount Air Organic Beef Farm are available in Crozet at Fabulous Foods natural Food Store. Ruby offers fresh range eggs from the Steppe Family Farm. Visit Innisfree Village Farm to experience beautiful local organic vegetable, herb and flower gardens just a mile up the road on Walnut Level Rd (call Innisfree to arrange a tour). The Shenandoah National Park Entrance is only minutes away on Sugar Hollow Rd. and offers great hikes, swimming holes and fun rocks to play on for the whole family. Mint Spring Park offers lake swimming with white sandy beach and lifeguards on duty.We have a 6-acre lake to swim ( this is rustic country pond swimming, no fancy white beach swim! Bring water shoes to avoid the fresh water clam shells) and canoe in and 2 other fishing ponds and hiking trails and lots of wildlife! Keep an eye open for Blue heron, black bear, and deer. The beaver often swim just across the bank at the lakes’ over flow and will some times swim up to the canoe.Organic Shade Grown Coffee is in the freezer. Description of Vacation Rental Property

Our 6 cozy vacation cottages are perfect combination of Nature, Comfort & Simplicity for couples and small families. Cottages sleep four to six people. Each cottage has a fully equipped kitchenette with modern appliances including microwave. Living room with double futon, bedroom with queen size bed, sleeping loft with twin beds, full bath, and deck overlooking lake. Linens and towels are provided along with complimentary shade grown organic fair trade coffee and teas. Hiking trails meander through this beautiful and serene property of 129 acres with a lake and two other fishing ponds including a canoe & mountain bikes for guest use. Lake is stocked with small & big mouth bass. Open year round.

Sleeps & # of Bedrooms

Each cottage sleeps 4- 6 guests, each cottage has one bathroom.The A-frame cottage has a small bedroom with a queen size bed, a sleeping loft with 2 twin beds, and a double futon in the livingroom- kitchenette. Sleeps 6. Full Bath with Tub. #1 Cottage sleeps up to 4 folks. It has a fully equipped kitchenette with modern appliances, a living room with double sized futon and gas fireplace, and one bedroom with a double size bed. Bathroom w/ shower. A front porch overlooks surrounding woods and is located just a hop, skip, and a jump from our tranquil lake.# 2 Cottage, a cedar timberframe has two small bedrooms, one with a comfortable double bed. The other bedroom has cozy bunkbeds. The livingroom kitchenette also has a double futon. Sleeps 6. Bathroom with shower.2 more newly renovated cottages will be available in March of 2008.The Lodge may be rented for group campouts sleeping up to 50 guests. The lodge has a rustic kichenette with stove & oven, microwave, 3 refridgerators, a freezer & large farm sink. Shower, laundry and men & women's restrooms. Cots & air matresses available.

Air Conditioning. Kitchen with modern appliances, dishes,pots and pans. Linens and towels provided. No TV or Phone. Phone available at office day and night. The A-Frame & #1 Cottage have a TV/DVD Player. (bring your own DVD's). Books, Games and puzzles are stocked in each cottage. Canoe and mountain bikes for guest use. Bathroom. Charcoal grill on deck.Cd player and radio. Complimentary Organic fair trade teas, coffee and spices. We use as many eco-friendly products as possible including all natural cleaners.Coin Operated Washer & Dryer available at lodge.

Directions

From I-64I 64 to exit 107. East on Rt.250, at light, take left on to Rt. 240.Follow 240 into Crozet, and continue straight after railroad trestle. Follow 6 miles to Whitehall. At Wyant’s grocery take a left.Take sharp right at Piedmont Store.Travel 3.5 miles to Slam Gate Rd.You will pass a sign for Whitehall Vineyard and then Gryffon’s Aerie at Mount Air Farm (Pastured Fed meat Retail Store). Montfair is a mile and 1/2 from Mt. Air. Take left onto Slam Gate Rd. Drive to top of hill. Take right at Bezaleel Drive.
